Campgrounds are Parkcamper.com's specialty. We offer full video campground tours on DVD and for download(coming soon). You can order the Northern Rocky Mountains Edition 3 DVD set by clicking on the picture of the DVD. Specific outdoor related multimedia is hard to find on the internet. It seems every other site shares the same meager pictures and information word for word. Parkcamper was created to remedy that. Be sure to click on each campground on the campground map for it's respective page.

Badlands National Park makes for a worthwhile camping outing. The Badlands and the prarie combine for an unusual camping experience in our national park system. Open fires are not permitted in Badlands National Park, so please use your stove for cooking.

Like with other National Park campgrounds, signing up and paying for your site is easy. Simply walk up to the campground entrance registration center, fill out the form, insert your money, tear off your portion of the envelope (receipt) then deposit the envelope in the collection box. You then place your receipt on your campground stake (usually this has your site number and a clip). Campgrounds in Badlands National Park operate on a first come, first serve basis except for the group camping at Cedar Pass. Some of the camgrounds in Badlands National Park require you to pay at a front office rather than with a strong box and envelope system before you enter them (Cedar Pass). Badlands National Park campgrounds don't fill incredibly fast, but plan on arriving early to get a campsite of your choice.

The real gem of camping in Badlands National Park is the backcountry camping. You can set up camp anywhere in the park that is .5 miles from any trail or road as long as it is not visible from those roads. No permits or fees are required for the backcountry camping, but it's best to let others know of your plans. Signing the trailhead logs is a good idea. Cross country hiking and camping in the Sage Creek Wilderness Unit of the park makes for a great experience as long as you obtain and use the proper maps. Water is very hard to find in Badlands National Park so always carry your own supply.
