Moose Lake is the most popular entry point into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness(BWCAW). It serves as both a motorized and canoe-based entry point, and is officially entry point #25 to the BWCAW, with 27 permits granted per day from May 1 to Sep 30. Moose Lake is 1,211 acres with a maximum depth of 65 feet. There is a motorboat landing as well as a canoe landing. Do not expect to be alone during peak season. Elevation is 1,339 feet. Reservations are a must. Moose Lake is located on the Fernberg Road, about 16 miles east of Ely. A short video tour of the lake and landing will be available in future.
