Rainbow Point is a good sized campground situated on the shores
of Hebgen Lake on the Grayling Arm bay portion. For those seeking
lake recreation, this is an outstanding spot. Hebgen Lake is world
famous for the quality of its rainbow trout and brown trout fishing.
Rainbow Point campground also serves as a major watercraft access
point for Hebgen Lake, so expect a great deal of activity in the
area during the summer months. Things slow down considerably in
the fall and the campground provides a nice quiet experience.
The close proximity to Yellowstone and the water based recreation
of Hebgen Lake make this a very popular area.
Unfortunately, this campground is one of the few campgrounds in
the U.S. to have had a bear caused human fatality. This incident
occurred in 1983. Please follow all food storage and preparation
precautions in bear country.
