Red Cliff is a narrow but beautiful campground which sits on a
flat piece of land between the mountainside and the Gallatin River.
The sites offer a moderate amount of privacy.
The real attraction to the campground is the Gallatin river and
the stunning forest and mountain land in the area. Yellowstone
is thirty five miles south on U.S. 191.. Although this campground
is next to the busy highway, it feels very remote due to its location
in the wild mountains that make up much of this area. Those interested
in fishing or river based recreation will find this to be an ideal
location. The Gallatin river is easily wadeable here, and the
fishing is of world class quality. Hiking is nearby as well, with
a trailhead at the southern end of the campground.
If you run out of available sites in the Gallatin Canyon campground
complex, Red Cliff is your best bet to find an open spot as there
are simply more sites.
