Glacier National Park
Avalanche

Avalanche campground is one of Glacier National Park's finest. Set in an area of Glacier National Park that receives more moisture, the vegetation is lush.Old growth cedar and hemlock trees fill the valley. One of the most spectacular trails in the park (Avalanche Lake) is a short walk away. Avalanche campground is a few miles from the east end of Lake Mcdonald on the Going to the Sun Road. All of the bathrooms in Avalanche campground are of the modern variety (flush toilets, sinks). Avalanche is a popular campground and can fill before noon, especially the sites that border the outside edge of the campground and the old growth trees. Avalanche is a great place to spend some time camping with the family, or as a set up point for further treks into the wilderness.
