Glacier National Park is an amazing place to go boating. The lakes offer scenery that is simply unparalleled in the lower 48. Crystal clear waters, dark old growth forests and sheer cliffs shooting 3-4,000 feet up all combine for a unique boating experience. Glacier National Park is not only a mountain park, but a true water wonderland. Glacier has 653 lakes totaling 27,00 acres and 392 miles of shoreline. The park also has 563 streams totaling 1,606 miles.

Bowman(10hp limit)
McDonald(no limit)
Two Medicine(10hp limit)
St. Mary(no limit)

You can carry small craft into many of the lakes in Glacier National Park. Sailboats and human powered boats are allowed on all Glacier National Park waters.The Flathead River provides world class whitewater in a wild setting, making a good choice for those seeking a river experience. However, the North and Middle Forks of the Flathead can be incredibly dangerous. Those looking to raft these waters need to have all the latest information and safety guidelines. Floatation devices are required for all boaters, and those 12 and under must have them on. Jet skis are not allowed in Glacier National Park. Water skiing is permitted on McDonald and St. Mary lakes, from sunrise to sunset. Undesignated camping is not allowed on lakeshores.

You can rent boats and tours at Lake McDonald, Two Medicine, St. Mary, and Many Glacier. Glacier Park Boat Company handles all reservations and transactions.
