Cut Bank is one of the smaller campgrounds in Glacier National
Park, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in punch. The
immediate scenery is outstanding. Cut Bank campground is reached
via a a five mile long dirt road, from highway 89, between St.
Mary and Two Medicine. Cut Bank campground does not have modern
bathrooms. A scenic meadow and creek border the camping sites,
while a thick green forest stretches on into the wilds of Glacier
National Park. A good windbreaker is always handy, as the wind
always seems to howl at Cut Bank campground.
Cut Bank is for all intents and purposes a basecamp for those
seeking longer excursions into the Glacier backcountry. Those
looking for a remote car camping site will like Cut Bank, but
if you aren't up for hiking there are other remote drie-in sites
in the park within feet of large lakes.
