Kintla Campground

Kintla Lake campground is the most remote drive-in campground in Glacier National Park . It is reached via a fourteen mile dirt road from the Polebridge entrance in Glacier's North Fork country. The road is primitive, but cars can handle the road in good summer weather. Be cautious and aware of potholes and any moisture on the road that could mean soft mud. Large RV's and trailers are not recommended. There are no modern bathrooms at Kintla Lake campground . The campground borders Kintla Lake and makes for a very scenic setting. If you want a quiet drive-in car camping experience in Glacier National Park, this is your best bet along with Cut Bank, Logging Creek and Quartz Creek. These remote drive-in sites make for great camping.

Kintla is deep in the woods, so practice common sense camping. It's thick bear country and Glacier bear precautions should be implemented. The road to Kintla is long and rough. In fact, I blew a tire on it last fall. Make sure you have the equipment to change a flat tire. In fact, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have two spares if at all possible. After passing through the North Fork meadows, the road narrows considerably and the risk of hitting another car coming toward you increases. Use caution and keep it slow. The area is also thick with wildlife from elk to wolves.
