Quartz Creek campground is near Logging Creek campground along
the inside North Fork Road(although not as far in coming from
Polebridge). Quartz campground is a five mile drive along the
primitive road from the Polebridge entrance. Expect a bumpy
ride and one of the parks most remote and quiet drive-in camping
locations. There are no modern bathrooms. Occasionally,
Quartz closes for various reasons, so check with Glacier National
Park to see if they are open before planning your camping trip.
Quartz is down the Inside North Fork road. Hang a right at the
Polebridge entrance. The narrow road winds through some old
burns and past shallow Mud Lake, which is worth checking out
for moose and other kinds of watery wildlife. After Mud Lake,
the road enters a thick forest and crosses a few crystal clear
creeks. This is big time wolf country, so keep your eyes and
ears open. They are tough to spot, but make no mistake about
it, this area is their home.
