Rising Sun campground is surrounded by towering
peaks and faces the majestic blue of St. Mary Lake. The location
is a good jumping off point for Glacier National Park's famous
Going to the Sun Road. There are numerous things to see and
do such as the picnic area down by the lakeshore, several trailheads
and numerous waterfalls. The campground is next to a well stocked
gift shop and supply store. There are also showers available,
making this a good spot for those who tend to miss the comforts
of home. Rising Sun is a relatively small campground, but receives
heavy use. Since it practically borders Going to the Sun Road
and the camp store parking lot, don't expect a completely quiet
experience.
Rising Sun campground also has modern bathrooms.
The area can often be very windy, so a windbreaker is often
a good idea in the mornings and evenings.
