Two Medicine Campground

Two Medicine campground is set in the spectacular Two Medicine Valley. This is a popular campground for it's scenery, trails and water-based activities. Large mountains, blue lakes and primeval forests make up the terrain. Running Eagle Falls is a popular short hike just a mile from the campground.

Moose, osprey and bear are often spotted in this area of Glacier National Park. On a single morning last fall, I encountered a bald eagle, black bear, mule deer, snowshoe hare, elk and several owls. Even the rare wolverine is occasionally seen. This is a wild section of the park with scenery to match.

Review Two Medicine campground!

There are numerous first rate hiking trails that spur out from Two Medicine, as well as a boat rental system, a boat tour on the classic Sinopah, a boat landing, and really cool gift shop/camp store which has a great spot for sitting down with a cup of coffee and watching beautiful Two Medicine Lake. This campground really has something for everyone of every ability. Two Medicine campground has modern bathrooms.

One thing to remember is that bears often enter this campground. Last fall(2008), there were three other parties in the entire Two Medicine area. I had recently spotted a very good sized black bear enter the grounds near my tent, so I walked up the camp drive to the other tenters and informed them. They didn't believe me, and asked to see a picture. As I was handing them my camera, one of them shouted "behind you!". I turned around, and about 30 yards away there was the black bear trotting down the road, daydreaming. It stopped in its tracks, putting on the brakes via front feet and looked at us with incredibly frightened eyes. It then ran as fast as it could in the other direction, off into the woods. It had a pronounced limp, which I later found out was from a car accident on the entrance road you see in the picture. There's a reason for those speed limit signs, and it's mostly for the thick wildlife that calls the area home.

If you see "Limpy" this summer, tell him I said hi.
