Grand Teton National Park offers a variety of boating experiences
in a very scenic setting. Whether you kayak, motor boat or canoe,
Grand Teton National Park has something for you.
You need a permit to boat on Grand Teton's waters. You can purchase
them at the Moose Visitor Center and the Colter Bay Visitor Center.
Annual motor boat: $40
Weekly motor boat: $20
Annual non-motorized: $20
Weekly non-motorized: $10
Motorized boats are only permitted on Jackson and Jenny Lakes.
Jenny Lake has a 10hp limit. Everyone on a boat must have a working
floatation device. Kids under 13 must wear life vests. Jet skis
are not permitted in Grand Teton National Park waters. There is
boat trailer parking at Colter Bay, Leek's Marina and Signal Mountain.
You can rent boats from Colter Bay marina, and also
take guided cruises and floats on Jenny Lake and the Snake River.
These are available in Grand Teton National Park at time of visit
or by reserving at the Grand
Teton Lodge Company (they handle these services for
the park).
Jackson Lake is a whopping 25,540 acres! This provides
for all day excursions. The weather coming off the Tetons can
be dangerous, so always use caution on a large body of water such
as this.
Rafting on the Snake River is a wonderful experience that will
create long lasting memories. The beauty of the Snake River has
to be seen to be believed. It's not just the river itself, but
the mountains that set the backdrop.
