Gros Ventre (pronounced grow-vaunt)campground is tucked far in
the eastern portion of Grand Teton National Park, right up against
the National Elk Refuge. It's a large campground that is especially
scenic in the fall. It's all fairly flat, and the camping sites
are roomy compared to most other campgrounds. It's not as popular
as other campgrounds due to the fact it's on the eastern side
of Grand Teton National Park. However, this is an excellent place
to see moose and elk if you are interested in wildlife.
Gros Ventre campground rarely fills up even in peak times. Some
find its location in the park to be odd. Those who want a slightly
more quiet camping experience with an emphasis on wildlife and
relative closeness to a decent sized town (Jackson) will find
it a very appealing place to park the RV or set up camp. outstanding
views of the Teton range are also provided. Gros Ventre offers
modern restrooms.
