Grand Teton National Park is a hikers paradise, offering some of the most challenging hiking in the nation. There are also many day hikes for those that want a more relaxed pace. Remember that Grand Teton National Park is grizzly bear country. Follow proper grizzly country hiking rules even for shorter day hikes. Always bring bear spray on hikes.

If you are an avid hiker or climber Grand Teton National Park should be at the top of your list. The park contains 240 miles of excellent hiking trails.

Colter Bay Lakeshore trail: 2 miles round trip
Colter Bay Heron Pond and Swan Lake: 3 miles round trip
Two Ocean Lake: 6.4 miles round trip
Emma Matilda Lake: 9.1 miles round trip
Leigh Lake: 2.1 miles round trip
String Lake: 3.3 miles round trip
Jenny Lake Loop: 6.6 miles round trip
Hidden Falls: 5.0 miles round trip
Forks of Cascade Canyon: 13 miles round trip
Surprise Lakes: 9.6 miles round trip (strenuous)
Taggart Lake: 3.2 miles round trip
Phelps Lake: 4.0 miles round trip
Teton Canyon: 11 miles round trip (strenuous)
Flagg Ranch Polecat Creek Trail: 2.5 miles round trip

Equipment checklist:

sturdy and lightweight tent
comfortable backpack or daypack
enough water for your hike or a quality water purifier/filter
raingear
a sleeping bag rated properly for the time of the year
comfortable, already broken in hiking boots to avoid blisters
matches or lighter
hat and gloves in crisp conditions
quality winbreaker and liner
proper amount of food (high odor items are probably not a good choice)
sunblock
a hat
sunglasses
camera
bear spray
cooking utensils
knife
scrub pad
20 feet of light rope
insect repellent
sleeping bag
