Bitterroot Flat campground is a long way up Rock Creek Road in the beautiful Lolo National Forest of Montana. In fact, it's twenty three miles of travel south from I-90, which in turn is about twenty miles east of Missoula Montana. Those interested in a relatively peaceful, quiet and scenic campground will fall in love with Bitterroot Flat campground. Like all of the campgrounds in the famous Rock Creek corridor, Bitterroot Flat borders the spectacular Rock Creek, which in reality is a moderate sized river.

This campground holds an especially strong appeal for forest visitors who are interested in fishing Blue Ribbon Rock Creek. The "creek" is incredibly famous for its high quality of fishing. People from all over the world visit the river for the excellent fishing. You will find brook trout, brown trout, rainbow trout, cutthroat trout and bull trout in Rock Creek. However, it's not just about the fishing. The scenery here in this corridor is outstanding. Wildlife watching is also excellent, with bear, moose, grouse, bald eagle, osprey and bighorns the most commonly seen.

Bitterroot Flat campground is one of the more remote drive-in campgrounds in the Lolo National Forest. Visitors will be please with the tall, old growth ponderosa pine forest and the very quiet nature of this campground. Many of the sites border Rock Creek, although there's a slight angle down to the river.
