Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park offers a drastic weather
experience. Summers can be very humid and hot, while winters can
be incredibly harsh. The park is heavily influenced in terms of
weather by the gigantic Lake Superior. Massive snowfalls are fairly
common, as are floods. Cool, wet springs bring hordes of black
flies. Light rain and mist can linger for days due to the border
with Lake Superior. The area sometimes receives over two hundred
inches of snow. Anyone backpacking in Porcupine Mountains Wilderness
State Park needs to be prepared for all types of weather conditions.

Average temps:
January: 7-20 degrees
April: 30-53
July: 54-79
October: 37-57
