Hiking

Theodore Roosevelt National Park offers a unique hiking experience in the North Dakota badlands. The trails and views have a flavor and appeal that make this park stand out as a unique area in our park system. One of the more interesting and challenging hikes in the park is the Maah Daah Hey Trail, a 96 mile long trail which connects the north and south units of the park! This long, strenuous trail is also open to horseback riders, but only open to bicyclists outside of the park.. It also crosses the Little Missouri National Grassland as well as private land. This trail is the stuff of legends! Do you have what it takes?
The Maah Daah Hey Trail starts in Sully Creek State Park, just south of Medora. This is a rough trail and requires adequate preparation.
