Voyageurs National Park is a fishing paradise. If you enjoy fishing for freshwater game fish, this is an excellent location. The fishing opportunities in Voyageurs National Park are second to none in the National Park system. Thousands of acres of cool, clean fresh water await you, teeming with pike, bass and walleye. Simply point your point in the direction you want, and fishing adventure awaits you!


To fish in Voyageurs National Park, you need a Minnesota fishing license. Those under 16 and under get to fish for free. The Minnesota resident annual fishing license is $17. The annual nonresident fishing license is $37.50. There is also a nonresident annual family license that includes parents and children under 16 for $50.50. A 7 day nonresident license is $26.50.

Crane Lake: All walleye from 17-28" must be released. One walleye over 28" allowed. Possession limit is four. Minimum size limit on musky is 48".

Kabetogoma Lake: All walleye from 17-28" must be released. One walleye over 28" allowed. Possession limit is four.

Namakon Lake: All walleye from 17-28" must be released. One walleye over 28" allowed. Possession limit is four.

Rainy Lake: All walleye from 17-28" must be released. One walleye over 28" allowed. Walleye and sauger possession of eight. Only four can be walleye.

Sand Point Lake: All walleye from 17-28" must be released. One walleye over 28" allowed.

 

Northern Pike (all lakes):
Season - May 12 to Feb 24th
Possession - 3, not more than 1 over 30"

Musky (all lakes):
Season - June 2 to Feb 24
Possession - 1, minimum 40"

Bass (small and largemouth):
Season - May 12 to Feb 24
Possession - 6
Special - Sept 10 to Feb 24 catch and release only for smallmouth

Lake Trout(all lakes):

Season - May 12 to Sept 30
Possession - 2
