Unlike the high western parks, Voyageurs can become incredibly humid during the summer. Thunderstorms and lightning are common. Practice smart boating and stay off the water during storm activity. Voyageurs National Park is one of the coldest winter time areas in the U.S. Extreme cold weather clothing is required when travleling in this area during the winter.
