I once participated and co-organized a project where people (usually people interested in camping, wilderness, and similar types of interests) would gather and brainstorm about the survival gear. The goal of the project was to list all tools, gadgets, food, equipment that could need and be possible one man or a small group to carry on them. This basically came down to camping gear, but project additionally had to incase all situations like natural disasters, war and other types of situations that would result in leaving your home. Project also had to include where and how quick all that equipment could be found and purchased.

We had a long list of equipment (from cooking items, tents, clothes, tools) and we were trying to bulletproof any possible scenario. Since I stumbled onto this forum I thought maybe this could of some interest to some people.

I would love to hear people's opinions on this project. Did some of you campers had any similar hobby?

We never experienced this actually. We do make it a hobby to prepare a list and do  everything we need but I never had a chance to join in these organizations.

Well, I wouldn't call this project a organization of some kind but definitely gathered some friends who are camper lovers to chat about the equipment, and some interesting stuff were brought out to light.
