We visited Apgar campground in August of 2008, our first visit into Glacier National Park. The campground was very busy, lots of good sized RV's there and groups. There are many things to do though. Food, shops and tour guides are a short walk away, as is Lake McDonald. There is a neat little outdoor ampitheater right next to the lake. You can see the mountains of the Going to the Sun Road at the end of Lake McDonald. Lots of motorboats on the lake and also some kayaks. Family skipped rocks, swam and visited the North Fork of the Flathead where it meets the other branches of the river. Very impressive. We drove up to the Avalanche area and explored the short trail up to Avalanche lake which was fantastic. The large cedar forest and boardwalk tour was also a highlight. The sites are sort of spacious at Apgar, but many loops and busy. Still a nice campground.

Apgar is the first campground we use when we go to Glacier National Park. It's HUGE but is set in a eally nice forest that we enjoy. It can be very busy in the peak season. Plenty of room for even the biggest SUV. In the fall they close down a bunch of the loops and only keep the ones closest to the lake open. Food and guide services are a quick walk over to the Apgar village. Really nice place to camp if you don't mind all the people. The deep woods really give a nice feel to the grounds.
