Avalanche Campground is one of my favorites! The trees are amazing in this campground. And there is a Trail of the Cedars right next to the campground that anyone can go on and it is beautiful. There are also a lot of trailheads right around the area. Not only is a beautiful campground but very conventient for whatever activities you may have planned.

We just got back from Glacier with our family this June. Avalanche was the campground we stayed at on the west side of the park. We absolutely loved it. First, everything was nice and clean incuding the bathrooms. We had a campsite on the outer edge of the campground bordering some of the ancient cedar trees. The forest was really quiet and pleasing.
We could visit the Trail of the Cedars anytime we wanted too, fish the small, pretty creek right next to camp and also hike up to Avalanche Lake which is one of the best things I've ever seen. The hike is pretty steep but it's not long. It's interesting watching the neat waterfalls and the changing forests as you go up. Do not miss Avalanche Lake!
We also enjoyed the restaurant at Lake McDonald Lodge which wasn't too far away. Very convenient to trips up the Going to the Sun Road also.
