We traveled to Bowman campsites in August of 2008 in a rental minivan.  Getting to this campground was not easy, but the drive was really pretty and the kids seemed to like the bumpy road. Be careful on the road as very narrow. The campground is on Bowman Lake, which is HUGE. Tall moutnains surround the lake, with thick forests. Our site was very spacious with plenty of room, really different from others we tried in other parks. The lake was a very short wal kawayand the beach was fun for our kids. The trail around Bowman Lake was really easy, and we saw woodpeckers, deer, grouse and even a black bear. We would definitely go back, but next time bring some kind of boat.

Bowman is our favorite campground on the west side of Glacier. Sites are large and offer good privacy. The woods are so quiet there you wouldn't believe it. The road is super narrow, so drive slooooow. The peace you get at Bowman Lake though is worth it. Not many other like this in the lower 48 with car access.
